I've recently had a new website developed.  The old one was a dinosaur.  I loaded up a few emails to start receiving notices about my blog.  Just hit unsubscribe if you don't want to get them.  (What am I talking about? I don't even know if there IS an unsubscribe yet.)

It's that time around here where we still see snow, but the sun is out, the birds are back, the buds are budding, and it still gets really nice and cold at night.   And then we'll have a freeze, the buds will die, and we won't have peaches. Won't be long before I'll be itching to be out in the yard.  But for now....I keep making and stitching in my heated studio.

Last month, I was so angry and disgusted watching Ron Desantis threaten the female students with a mandatory record of their menstrual cycles.  I had to stop what was I was doing, and make this quilt.

Ultimately, it was voted down. For now.  As long as republicans are in office, they. will. never. stop.

Then I went back to more pleasant projects...I took another online class with Carolina Oneto, 'Beautiful Stones'.  She is such an effective teacher, and so easy to spend an afternoon with!  My result was this piece, entitled 'The Edge of Night'.  

Carolina offers so much helpful info about technique, color, shapes, and design. I've already signed up for her transparencies class!

Another artist who caught my eye on Instagram is Stephanie Shore.  I like how she uses fusing techinques on top of a a background to create a new illusion.  I was able to create these while on a recent trip, as a machine isn't required.  Well, not true...the background is made sewing gentle curves with a machine.  Those I prepared before I left. 

This second one, I added black and white, just because!

I like it! I like the process.  I like the result.

I've created several fabric collages with a raven as the focal point.  For Vinnie, I incorporated an inset circle to create a moon on a windy night.

Looker's environment is still a work in progress. The 4" blocks are leftovers from a quilt I made several years ago. I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.  If it doesn't work, I'll have a background made for a different project!
