It's true...life does get in the way sometimes. It happened to me this fall as my mom traveled onto her next journey. I was out of my home for a couple months. There was a lot of free time during this experience. Emptying her home of 33 years took up some of that time, but still, the evenings....so long. So I bought a cheap sewing machine, as one does when they have a minute, and some fabric, some fusible webbing and got to work. I enjoy making whimsical faces in the style of Jean Impey. I took her class over a year ago, and it's always rewarding to just whip out some scraps and pull a face together! It requires very little in the way of supplies, and in fact, not even a sewing machine until you get to the quilting phase. I ended up with 12 friends, hung all over the living room of my mom's house. I totally enjoyed having them around. They all had their little mini bios, also ala Jean Impey. You can see the ones I've finished here, but this is a sampling.... (still have 4 more to finish)
Since getting home, I've been playing catch up with longarm customers. I can see the light at the end of tunnel! I'm working on a tutorial to create the surface design on Dream Big Panels. I make a lot of these for the Las Comadres Gallery in Taos. Just thought I'd share....next post!
I'm long overdue for my girl fix....coming in 4 days!!
Thanks for checking in!
