Wow. Two months since I updated this thing. Thanks to a very busy pre-holiday season, I am oh-so-comfortable with my new Innova. I recently completed an entire quilt with clear mono poly thread. Never could get that stuff to work on my Gammill or Handi Quilter. I know others can do it, I’m sure user error was a huge factor. But the fact is, I just loaded the thread, lowered the tension and off we went.
So I have only put out 2 of my own quilts recently.
A small quilt that I just wanted to make so I could use the painted pony fabric.
And an appliqué quilt that was so fun to put together with my favorite scraps. I call this one Man’s Other Best Friend.
I just finished what might be my favorite customer quilt, although I have about 8 of those. This is a log cabin made with many different types of fabric. Lots of feed sacks. Which made avoiding puckers really hard. I managed it on the front, but I could not get around one pucker on the back.
Lots of pics, but I love that one. I’ve done so many recently, and they are all on my Flickr page. I can’t list them all here, but a couple favs….
Two memory quilts made from delicate scarves – rayon, silk, polyester, cashmere, woven, knit – really tough to work with. I cut an equal number of muslin and scarf squares. I ‘stay-stitched’ the muslin onto each scarf square, then sewed the scarf squares together. Fortunately, the Innova has a cup foot that made quilting the different fabrics stress free. I believe a normal foot would have trouble going over so many fine and different textures. These were commissioned by Dad for his 2 daughters.
Well that’s it for this year. I have one of my own that has been pieced and is biding his time, waiting for his turn on the longarm. Just need to make a few Xmas gifts first!
Thanks for looking!
