Commission Quilts
I love to make quilts from start to finish. It really is my favorite thing to do.

I love to make quilts from start to finish. It really is my favorite thing to do. This includes memory quilts, t-shirt quilts, baby quilts, quilts with ties, and most any other type of quilt! I’ve even done one with vintage doilies that were passed down generations. The photo above was created from a woman's collection of tops, all beach themed. More details of this particular quilt can be seen here.

This will require a visit to talk about what you are looking for, as well as ideas I may be able to share with you. Feel free to share photos you’ve seen online that represent what you have in mind. I’ll let you know if it’s out of my skill set!

If you have commissioned a quilt from start to finish, the pricing is described below. There are two phases in the pricing structure. Making a quilt top has one price structure, and the longarm surface design quilting has another.

MAKING THE QUILT TOP

The cost to complete the top is $20/hour. This includes designing the pattern (if necessary), cutting and piecing the top together, cutting and piecing the binding, machine stitch the binding to the front of the quilt and hand stitch the binding to the back of the quilt. I can only make an educated estimate on the number of hours it will take to finish any project, based on the size of the quilt, and my experiences. It may take longer, it may take less.

If you would like, I am happy to shop for and buy the necessary fabric. I save the receipts, and add those totals at the end. You will receive any unused fabric. Remember that the fabric needed for the back of the quilt is typically an additional 3-5 yards.

Batting is another cost. I use Quilters Dream batting, in cotton (low and medium loft), wool, polyester, and 80/20. It’s all luscious! Pricing changes due to shipping, and size needed. I can quote that as we talk.

LONGARM SURFACE DESIGN

Prices are based on square inches and type of surface design. To determine the square inches of your quilt, multiply length x width. To determine the cost of the job, multiply square inches by the rates below.

Example: If your quilt is 45x60, and you would like Budget Friendly:

45 x 60 = 2700
2700 x .025 = $67.50

Minimum for projects less than 2000 sq inches is $50.

Budget Friendly $.025
Edge to edge stipple/meander

Semi-Custom $.03 - $.035
• At least 2 custom designs in different areas of the quilt.
• Groovy board designs are $.03
• Stitch in the ditch without additional design is $.03

Custom Quilting $.04 - $.05
At least 3 of the following: stitch in the ditch, 2 or more designs, sashing design, echo quilting, modern quilting, microquilting, a composition of a variety of complementary designs throughout the quilt.

Intense Custom Quilting! $20/hour
Includes all of the above, along with extensive microquilting and/or crosshatching and/or tight meandering/pebblework, and/or negative space quilting.

This is what I love to do! Thanks for taking a look.
