Taos County Fair

Taos County Fair

This year is my first to enter anything into the Taos County Fair.  I entered 4 quilts.  Why not?  (There's probably an etiquett code here, and I hope I haven't broken it. )  But it was fun and rewarding as I received a 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd.  (different categories).

Here they are, hanging up in the rafters!

Far left, 3rd from the left, and the rear right corner.  That one in the back...I just learned that it won't drape over our 14" mattress enough to cover it.  When I made it, I really wasn't thinking of using it as our bedspread.  I just kept making borders till I'd had enough.  Big mistake.

This was the last quilt, which won a 2nd place ribbon.  It will now be passed on to its' rightful owner.

I have had so many problems with my Handi Quilter Avante, that I have nothing to share as far as quilting goes.  I guess it's only one problem: the impossible task of getting correct tension, and once you have it, getting it to stay exactly that way for more than 3 minutes.  It's destined to be sold. I'm going to try prewound bobbins .... but I'm not optimistic.  It's cursed.   Maybe, hopefully, pictures soon.....hmm.
