The Wonky Log Cabin

The Wonky Log Cabin

We've lived in the same house for 26 years.  In 10 months, we will pack it up and move to Taos, NM.   We bought our retirement home in 2010, & I've been drooling about it ever since. We spend as much time as we can there, but we have these...jobs.  When we do get to spend time there, I enjoy as much time as I can with the Taos quilt guild.  Talk about a friendly group.  They are small in numbers but mighty in talent and love of quilting. Each month, there's a gal who takes time to teach a new skill, or a new block, or pattern.  Last month, it was the Wonky Log Cabin, based on the book Layered Waves, by Karen Eckmeier.

It was lesson in cutting curves and sewing them back to together.  Lots of bias goin' on.   Each log is actually topstitched onto the quilt top.  Big mess, but great fun.

I went after the spiral quilting again, this time making 4 spirals instead of one.  What to do when one spiral runs into the next one...well that was challenge and I tried 4 different ways.  Two not so good ways...

All in all, I will hate to see it go.  I went ahead and put in my Etsy shop.

Quilt On!
