Hannah and I were at Quitcon in Pasadena in February. There we saw this giraffe quilt hanging, majestically. Hannah, being the director of a preschool, thought it would be a nice touch at the school, so I bought the Violet Craft pattern, all paper piece. The pattern is one in her set of Jungle Abstractions. The pattern is ingenious, really. I can’t imagine the type of brain that can concoct such a thing. There are 100 paper pieces to the pattern, and each piece requires anywhere from 2 to 12 (maybe 14 – I can’t remember) pieces of fabric to be sewn to it. It’s a monumental task, but so well designed. If you just follow the pattern, you get a giraffe. This is the first section. The back of the first section! Headless Hello! All pieced and quilted.
